Thesis Title: The Mechanisms of Plasticity in Mesolimbic Dopamine Function Underlying Behavioural  and Neurochemical Sensitisation

·         measure the effect of psychostimulant drugs on animals locomotor activity after repeated administration

·         Working on Fast Scan cyclic voltammetry to masseur the neurotransmitters release in the nucleus accumbence (an important area in reward brain system).

·         masseur the effect of repeated administration psychostimulant drugs on expression of specific genes that responsible about neural plasticity using Immunohistochemistry

·         Using Real time-qPCR technique, to measure the effect of drugs on dopamine receptors expression in the brain reward areas.

·         Develop and validate a method for horizontal or sagittal slicing to obtain the whole mesolimbic dopamine pathway. This will allow us to measure the effect of pharmacological manipulation of Ventral tegmental area (VTA) on dopamine release in nucleus accumbens (NAc), using fast scan cyclic voltammetry (FCV) in vitro.
