Our clients vacancy could be filled by one of three types of candidate:
Small Animal Vet: They would consider a candidate with any level of experience if they have the right attitude for this role. Their small animal team provides care for our local Dogs Trust kennels so an interest in the fascinations of shelter medicine would be useful. Their caseload is hugely varied but with well resourced or insured clients and fifteen minute appointments we have plenty of time to carefully work-up anything that we face. The team are supported by a nursing team of three, including one RVN and two SVNs. There is very occasional sole charge because of holidays/CPD etc so a level of confidence is required.
Equine Vet: They would consider an experienced equine vet. They look after Sports Horses (mainly Eventers and Dressage Horses), Show Horses, Show Jumping Ponies and Leisure Horses and Ponies. They provide a very high level of service and use itinerant Specialists and Surgeons to back us up in our small, well equipped surgery with stocks and stabling facilities. They provide a very high level of dental care with each vet being equipped with a modern dental machine and also look after a significant population of old horses and ponies. They do very little stud work and no racing work.
Mixed Vet: They would consider a candidate with a bit of experience who would be happy to do a mix of Small Animal and Equine work. The level of mix would depend on their particular interest and the role might evolve into a predominance of one or other side of the practice.
